We recently had a visit from the Year 5 & 6 students from Freezywater Primary School. They took part in some science sessions and had so much fun!
The Year 5 students completed a science lesson on forces with Mr Ozbek, our KS3 coordinator for science and a Year 7 form tutor. He introduced the students to contact and non contact forces and they used thrust to create a hovercraft, using balloon and cd’s! They then took part in races to see how the amount of air impacted on distance travelled.
The Year 6 students took part in a session on diet and energy. They used Bunsen burners, water and test tubes to burn different types of food. The energy in the burning food was then used to heat the water and students had to record the temperature difference this made to calculate which food had the most/least energy.
We loved having the students over, the were fabulous! They have taken part in many other session this year including PE and Computer science and they are coming back soon for our Food Tech session. Thank you to all of the staff at Freezywater Primary School for making this happen.
