We have been officially recognised as a Gold Standard Trauma‑Informed School by Enfield LA. We are one of the only secondary schools in Enfield to have achieved this standard.
This is a significant achievement and one that reflects not a single initiative, but the collective commitment, compassion, and professionalism each of you brings to OAE every day.
Being awarded gold standard is a recognition acknowledges that we have created an environment where:
- Every child is seen, heard, and understood
- Behaviour is approached with empathy and insight
- Relationships are at the heart of teaching and learning
- Safety—both emotional and physical—is prioritised
- Staff work consistently to support regulation, resilience, and recovery
Most importantly, it affirms that our students are learning in an environment where they can truly feel safe enough to thrive.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to each and every person who works with our young people. It is a reflection of the way they build trusting relationships with pupils, their commitment to understanding the ‘why’ behind behaviour, the calm, consistent support they provide in moments of dysregulation and the willingness to reflect, learn, and adapt their practice.
A particular shout out goes to our Assistant Principal, Ms Dennis and our Medical and Health & Safety Lead/Mental Health Champion, Ms Paris, as OAE's ETIPSS Champions, ensuring that we all work with a shared belief that every child deserves to succeed, no matter their starting point.
