British Science Week Book Event with Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock

Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock shared her experiences with our Year 7s about growing up in Islington, London and aspiring to become a space scientist as a person of colour from a deprived area. She talked about the impact women were making in the space race back to the Moon and space exploration in general, and provided amazing insight into why we are part an actual part of the universe, made of literal stardust. She also shared her childhood experiences which encouraged her to work hard to become a space scientist, some of which resonated with our students.

The event involved taking questions from students, from all the participating schools, and concluded with a quiz activity about our Universe and the Solar system.
