British Science Week at OAE

British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths. This year's theme - connections!

Oasis Academy Enfield's Science department has celebrating British Science Week by creating engaging activities for all students to take part in this incredible week.

Students have made some brilliant spaghetti towers and have built brooklands gliders which we are proud to show off.

Spaghetti towers is a task which our science teachers have set in which the aim is to design and build a tower using spaghetti. This challenge links design and technology, mathematics and science as children use problem-solving strategies and knowledge of two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes to build their towers.

Our students have also created some amazing Brooklands Gliders. This is to allow connections between the forces of flight which allow an aircraft to soar - you can't have one force without the others! This activity allowed students to master the forces of flight to design a go-further paper glider which optimises lift and lessens drag to fly further and better.
