House System
At Oasis Academy Enfield (OAE), our House System is designed to create a strong sense of community cohesion and foster the values central to our ethos, including those highlighted in our LEARN values and Oasis’ 9 Habits. These values shape the well-rounded experience we aim to provide for our students, focusing on personal development, leadership, and social responsibility.
The purpose of our House System is:
- Community Cohesion: It helps to build unity and a sense of belonging within the academy, aligning with the Oasis Community Learning (OCL) value of togetherness.
- Character Development: Through the 9 Habits - such as patience, honesty and compassion - the House System nurtures personal growth and emotional intelligence in our students.
- Promotion of LEARN Values: Students are encouraged to engage with the core values of Leadership, Excellence, Aspiration, Resilience, and Nurture through various house activities.
- Diversity and Equal Opportunities: The system ensures that every student has the chance to shine, celebrate diversity, and experience equal opportunities.
- Leadership Skills: Students take part in leadership roles and responsibilities within their houses, promoting a sense of ownership and contribution to the school community.
Each house has a vertical structure, consisting of form groups from Years 7 - 13, allowing for mentorship and collaboration across different year groups. Throughout the year, students participate in inter-house competitions, house-led fundraising for local charities, and engagement with guest speakers, further enriching their experience.
Each House is Associated with an Inspirational Figure
- Leadership - Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.
- Excellence - Guided by the spirit of Marie Curie.
- Aspiration - Motivated by the example of Michelle Obama.
- Resilience - Embodying the values of Malala Yousafzai.
- Nurture - Influenced by Scott Harrison's compassion and humanitarian work.
