Oasis Academy Enfield Reaches Major Construction Milestone
A topping out ceremony has marked a significant milestone in the development of the new building for Oasis Academy Enfield, which will open in September this year.
The last piece of masonry was laid on the roof by the Principal, John Walton. He was assisted by John Everard, Managing Director of Kier London (the construction contractor) and Metin and Kadisha – two Year 7 students from the Academy.
Sponsored by Oasis Community Learning, the Academy provides a welcoming place for young people of the surrounding community, as well as their families and friends.
The Academy’s Principal, John Walton, said:
The new building will be a great place to study and learn. We are creating a first-class school here in Enfield Lock and I believe we have already established excellence in learning and teaching during the first year in our temporary home.
The students have taken a real interest as they have watched the Academy take shape next door. There is a genuine sense of excitement as we work towards the move to our permanent home in the autumn.
Steve Chalke MBE, CEO of Oasis Community Learning, said:
Oasis Academy Enfield demonstrates our commitment to the development of young people who care deeply about their education and who take pride in achievement. We want our students to have a real sense of community both within the school and within their neighbourhood.
The new building will be an inspirational place where students can realise their full potential, and it will act as a hub for a wide range of activities where the community will be warmly welcomed.
